About Our Company.
Beginning in 1991 with two founding geologists and a single fledgling white marble quarry, the Upper Canada Stone Company is now driven by a team of 50 dedicated employees capably operating a dozen quarries and processing facilities throughout Ontario. The key to our longevity is cultivating happiness and financial security amongst our employees, which is a top priority for the company. It empowers each member of our team to add intangible value to our products and services, thereby positively contributing to the success and prosperity of our customers.
We are one of the world’s leading full-line suppliers of terrazzo aggregates. Moreover, for 30 years, customers across the continent have relied on our multi-product line of Midnight Black Granite aggregates to produce an array of architectural precast concrete products, spun concrete utility poles and landscape pavers. In recent years, we have developed into a leading supplier of limestone products, including armourstone and steps, to the growing hardscape industry throughout North America.
Please let us know if we may be of service.

Our Quarries
Clarence Quarry
81 Scotch Settlement Road Madoc, ON K0K 2K0
Renamed the Clarence Quarry in 2022, in honour of the late Clarence MacDonald, our long time general manager, this quarry has been the source of Chocolate and Mocha terrazzo aggregates for decades.
Now, owing to the well-bedded and cubic nature of this deposit, it is an important source of uniquely coloured building stone, armourstone, guillotined products and various other dimension stone products for the hardscaping industry.
In addition, over the past several years, Madoc area contractors and municipalities have come to rely on the quarry as a reliable source of affordable road and construction aggregates.
Madoc Terrazzo Plant
7 Riggs Road Madoc, ON K0K 2K0
The Madoc Plant has been an important supplier of terrazzo aggregates to the North American Terrazzo industry since the 1950’s, when there were up to four competing aggregate suppliers in the area. Now, it stands alone.
Since acquiring the facility and its associated marble and limestone quarries in 2000, Upper Canada has expanded the facility’s customer base to include producers of architectural concrete pavers, exposed aggregate concrete products and terrazzo tile.
In addition, over ten years ago, processes were developed to feasibly offer an extensive line of post industrial recycled glass aggregates.
River Valley Granite Quarry
60 Highway #805, River Valley, ON P0H 2C0
Upper Canada Stone has been supplying Midnight Black Granite aggregates to architectural concrete and landscape customers throughout North America since we acquired the quarry in 1993. Believed to be the finest aggregate in North America, Midnight Black Granite is physically and optically consistent and is a highly durable aggregate with excellent strength characteristics.
Buckhorn Quarry
27 Dump Road Buckhorn, ON K0L 1J0
The newest addition to our Upper Canada Stone family is a world-class limestone deposit in Buckhorn, Ontario. It consists of Grey and Charcoal colours in a variety of different shapes, sizes and thickness.

Depending on the size of the stone and how it is loaded (bulk or skidded), a skid steer, forklift or bobcat would be required.
Weights vary depending on the size of the armourstone. A single stone can weigh anywhere from 1 to 3 tons. Larger armourstone (heights of 28”+) can weigh up to 5 to 7 tons per piece.
Length x height x depth divided by 12 will give you how many tons you require.
Stone loads are inspected and weighed at the scale house prior to the truck leaving the quarry. Upper Canada Stone is not responsible for stone damage/breakage that occurs during transportation or while unloading at the job site.
The most common trailer used to haul armourstone is a flatbed or b-train. A full load can range anywhere from 40 – 45 tons.
Upper Canada Stone does not offer trucking or transportation. We strongly suggest you source transportation prior to placing an order to confirm costs and availability.
